About this deal

Having this alternative victory condition is awesome because it creates both positive and negative moments of tension. Someone might need one more award to win the game, or they might be one safety violation away from exiting early. Components are great and support the theme well. Plus dungeons & dragons and aquariums, and all. Men at work was designed by rita modi and illustrated by chris quilliams and bernard bittler. Men at work includes 3 gaming modules to add loads of replayability to the game, as well as wooden components housed within a well designed insert for easy set up. Awards are earned by placing your materials or workers at the structures highest point. This rule causes chaos as everyone starts building higher and higher. This leads to plenty of accidents and safety certificates being taken away. There’s Been an Accident While other construction games have you building tall structures, like Jenga, or The Fuzzies. Men at Work has them apple bottom jeans, and boots with fur, and keeps it low, low, low…

Dexterity games are often dismissed as being activities more than they are games, but Men at Work proves that notion doesn’t always apply. Thirty-one years later and I still can’t believe Men at Work successfully added `Vegemite sandwich` into the lyrics of a hit song. But we’re not here to talk about the Australian National Anthem, we’re here for Men at Work the board game, a 2-4 player hands-on building construction game from Pretzel Games. Foreman – In this version players start the game with 2 random instruction cards. Over the course of the game, they can use one of these cards if they do not want to carry out an instruction shown on a drawn card. This version also states players have to place workers on the highest girder of the chosen colour. David Norris on Ethnos may look bland, but it’s one of my favourites Thanks Anton. No double thank you! It was on your… I love dexterity games and I’m always up for playing one. I think the reason being is I feel like I have my own fate in my hands, and that I have a sense of control. My sense of control usually fades when things don’t go as planned, but when it does, it does feel rewarding. In either case, I usually have lots of fun with them, even if I don’t win which happens more times than not. Designed by Rita Modl and produced by Pretzel Games, Men at Work will test your dexterity and have you building to dizzying heights. Get to Work The traditional way to win is if a player collects the required number of worker of the month awards. To make things even crazier you can combine all 3 of these variants if you want a much more chaotic experience. On the top of the draw pile is either a picture of a builder’s hat with coloured gloves or a picture of coloured girders. This tells you what to place. The colour of the gloves explains what colour girder to place your meeple builder on. The colour girder describes which colour girder you will be placing. Whether you like dexterity games or not, Men at Work is a lot of fun, even after players have been eliminated, as that structure is going to come crashing down at some point, it’s just a question of who will do it! In contrast to this, Men at Work spreads out on the tabletop like a bottle of jam. Allowing for more creativity in where you place your items. Especially when combined with the challenges you’re provided with each turn. You’ll always have multiple choices on where to place your piece, making it a compelling decision without being overly complicated.

If you like to keep a small, finely curated collection of games, then Men at Work might fit that perfect niche of a dexterity game like it did for me. If you already have a dexterity game you really like and you don’t play it that often, Men at Work might not have enough there to completely change your stance on the genre. If you can get a group of 3-5 players together regularly enough, it’s probably worth it. If you do most of your gaming with 2 players, there might not be enough here for you. Personally, I just have too many other 2-player games I’d recommend before Men at Work.Again, I enjoy dexterity games of all types and Men at Work is easy to learn and fast to the table. The components included are not only aesthetically pleasing and detailed but really do an excellent job of supporting the construction theme. My group and I were big fans of the variant rules which really help enhance the base rules but also add to the replay value. Allowing anyone who’s interested in playing to start without a lengthy rules explanation or a 17-minute introduction to modern board games. Men at Work is a brilliant fun dexterity game with great wooden components that fit perfectly their designated trays within the box. This is a 2-5 player game that works well at all player counts. It’s fun for whoever plays, whether that be children and family, new, or regular gamers. Higher and higher, the construction grows. Before long, the steel girders reach dizzying heights. Fearlessly, the workers carry on, with nothing more than hardhats to protect them. The danger of collapse hangs over everything - so just make sure that nothing happens! You also have to impress Rita, the boss, if you want to be Worker of the Month. There's a lot to do, so let's get going! As the structure builds, placing your pieces becomes increasingly difficult. Your nerves will be tested, as will the steadiness of your hand. Final Thoughts on Men at Work
