Look out for a pair that bisects your thigh at its widest point, as this will emphasise that width and make your legs look more muscular. This is actually a rule that can occasionally be broken, but in general, you want to slip to the outside of whatever punch is being thrown at you. In that position, you are safe from the hand that hasn’t been thrown yet, whereas if you slip to the inside, you are liable to get caught. Occasionally you can slip inside to mix it up and catch your opponent off guard, but it shouldn’t be your default. When Should You Slip In Boxing? Boxer shorts are the classic sort of underwear worn by classic cinema's husbands – the sort that returned late and thought it sensible to remove their trousers before hat or tie. Yes, loose, baggy and light has been in favour for decades, and with good reason. However, know that there are a few downsides, too (and not just Don Draper's). But on the other hand, shorter guys stand to benefit: more leg exposed creates the illusion of a longer leg and a longer man. In theory, the uppercut shouldn't be a threat if you keep a proper boxing stance and don't break your form while you fight. The time when the uppercut is landing is when the receiver has exposed their chin leaning forward. Know that not all men's underwear is made equal. Because neither are the men who fill them. While some builds can pull off thigh skimming boxer shorts, others are better suited to briefs; others, boxer briefs (more on that later). Generally speaking, shorter guys should avoid horizontal stripes. They can cut you off, and make you look even shorter. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but representing your true height is beneficial just in terms of proportion and not looking odd. If you read your opponent and suspect they will throw two consecutive hooks (front, rear), you may want to weave twice. This is often the case when your opponent becomes desperate and reverts to their natural instincts of throwing less controlled punches.
