Autumn is older, and a previous teacher of Landon, so you have an age gap and drama within that. However, I didn’t feel like their ages were an issue at all. Landon’s character arc is something to behold. I felt they were on the same level throughout. Autumn has been largely ignored and misunderstood by her family. Landon has no ego and has started working at the high school doing janitorial work. This is two fold for him because he has employment and is wanting to be near his brother.

I absolutely loved Landon, he definitely had that touch of Gentry magic that made him so special. I really felt for him over his career and I admired him a lot for returning to his roots in Emblem to look out for his little brother. Autumn is excited to start a new year as a high school maths teacher. She loves her job and does her best to help the kids of Emblem. Her family don't agree with her choice of job, but shes happy. She has a great room mate, her best friend and a job she loves. The only blip in her life is her family. Disconnected from them and betrayed by her sister Autumn does her best to put on a brave face about them but she's dredding being with them at the upcoming wedding of her sister.I shouldn’t waste time beating myself up over past choices or crying over the people who betrayed me. I first of all want to say that I personally LOVED this book. I liked Hayden's character and even liked Chloe. I like the BLM meaning in the book and even what the title means in the end.
